Anyone here from northwest Florida?
I neglect my family sitting at the computer for hours on end marveling at the artistic creations you guys construct. I have the dream of someday being a legendary speaker builder! Unfortunately, I have no clue about crossovers, roll-off, how or why to add capacitors/resistors/diodes, etc., etc., etc. My wife was an electronics major and I look through her old book about electronic assembly, but it's all greek to me. I can understand ANYTHING if it's taught to me, but I can't make heads or tails about this stuff reading it in a book. I have grand plans in my head for putting together a great home theater system, killer small systems in my kids rooms, and so on. I love to make sawdust, too! I just need someone to teach me how this is all done! I'll buy the beer!!! I did put together my own 2.1 system for my computer. I built the Triska sub and put the Dayton MC2550D plate amp in it to run the satellite speakers (Tang Band W3-1053SC 3" and later added some scrounged up tweeters). It sounds good! I was proud! My second project was some passive bookshelves for my son's room. I was cut back down to the level of speaker idiot in a hurry. Anyway, if you live close, let me know. I REALLY want to understand this stuff!!!

Re: Anyone here from northwest Florida?
If you ever come thru southwest GA, you should stop by. I can demonstrate speaker design principles. We could even design and rough assemble a speaker on the spot. Or just listen to music. Plan on staying a while.

Re: Anyone here from northwest Florida?
Hey Freak,
How about getting your wife involved and have her build (assemble & solder) the crossovers? Designing one is pretty simple since there are many crossover design softwares for free here.
