Under $75 pair computer monitor 2 way ?
I was just checking out the little 2 ways shown here:
http://techtalk.parts-express.com/sh...d.php?t=218989
But feel uneasy about all the router detail work on the motorboard, is there any other budget sets to consider that would fit on the average desk ?
Anything has to sound better than my ancient Creatives though i may re-use the amp for now, the jippo creative sub/amp combo will need to be another concern in the future.

Do you need a really small speaker? If the router work is too extensive on my little guys (and the tweeter is NLA anyways), Wolf and Zaph both have some dandy mini-speakers that would work.

You can cut the woofer hole for the Overnight Sensations with a jig saw, and the tweeter hole with a spade bit or forstner bit, since the drivers aren't flush mounted.

Think i found something, Wolf's "Twigs" looks small and interesting.
Would anybody give a list of budget minded crossover parts for me so i don't order something stupid.

I THINK these are touted as being able to reach down to about 150 Hz. My (now $81) Nano Neos will reach down to 40 Hz. Try 'em.

I wouldn't say I "touted" them lol. They will do 100 Hz without the highpass, but they will also do about 3 watts, too

These have been measured to 40Hz or below in room. Jeff_Free_69 is building them as PC speakers as we speak. Here is another interesting build customizable BSC for specific applications (big room/small room/near-field etc), no routing/crazy cabinet skills required, everything's current stock, and roughly around $75/pr to build.

Just $0.02

Re: Under $75 pair computer monitor 2 way ?
Use Dayton poly 5% caps, and the 10W sandcast resistors. The coils have spec- DCR values, so use what you want at those DCR values. Typically 20AWG coils in something this small.
These will be advised to be close to a wall/boundary, as they are low-BSC/wall units as designed. I think they would do fine as your PC monitors. I would advise angling the bases on them so the tweeters are aimed at your ears.
Let me know if I can help more...

Wolf

There are a lot of small+budget designs.I built the overnight sensations and love them. The woofer for the nano-neo's is on sale right now and thats a factor. Keep your eyes on the forum and you'll continue to see other ideas.

Re: Under $75 pair computer monitor 2 way ?
Its the 8 ohm version that's on sale unfortunately.
I am thinking about building the New Horizons but the total brings me over $100 and it looks like the Twigs would be over budget too.
Maybe i will need to scrape up some extra dough.

Re: Under $75 pair computer monitor 2 way ?
Not quite. The Nano Neos used the ND105-4. The woofer on sale is the ND105-8. There are some differences in the published specs and we already know that the 4 ohms version measured differently on several specs.

The extra low end from the little ND woofers is easily worth the extra $$! Used as computer speakers, you probably won't feel the need for a sub unless you are seriously into pipe organ music.

I swear I thought I ordered the 105-4 sunday for $10. Maybe I screwed up again.

The ncdiyaudio project would be another idea. I don't know if it would be under $75 after you built the cabs though. http://www.audioheuristics.org/proje...arlies2way.htm

Lots of good options for $100 + but this means i wait another week or so, not that I'm in a big hurry or anything.

Re: Under $75 pair computer monitor 2 way ?
These can be built for about $100.
