    Unknown.

The action is in the throat, and the challenge is to devise/discover a contour compatible with the quasi-spherical wavefront emitted by a dome.

I'd say continue with what you're doing, i.e., don't abandon the endeavor, but instead supplement it with also working this other approach. Having both, you can compare the results and perhaps garner further insight into the variables....

    Looks great Erich!

High Efficiency is where it's at with these designs, which limits your choices of domes to use but i have little doubt the SB Acoustics SB29 neo will perform well in such an application. The problem is it's a big radiating surface so you may have to redesign the baffle to accept it.

The data sheet for the XD120 appears to have no graph for the response (though it has a place for one)??

It uses the HD20 driver, whose sample graphs are still posted and in the PDF file

    Hi Zilch,

I have been reading this with much interest and was wondering what your thoughts would be to use 2 x Klipsch 6.5" buy out drivers with the Selenium D220ti in a 6" x 6" wave guide. What would your suggestions be? or even use 2 x 6.5 TB drivers pictured earlier with the D220 in a MTM for LCR in a great HT system.

Yes. MTM or 2.5. I favor the D2500Ti on the smaller waveguides, mostly for size and weight, but D220Ti performs just as well at a lower cost. Both use the same diaphragm.

    OT:
I see another Zilch-hating rating crapper has weighed in.

Good choice with the TB 6.5's. A parallel pair is 96db eff so considering the placement an possible boundry gain, you COULD wind up with a 94db eff system with an MTM. I've done some 2.5 ways as TMM and there is a wicked vertical null when you stand up....but who does that?.......walks around while listening or watching?

Any opinions on the little brother (?) to the B&C DE250? Mylar and about the same price as the D220Ti...crossover at 2500 Hz instead of 1600Hz? Might be nice for the miniwaves with 6" or 8" drivers. Hmmm...it is a bolt-on, not threaded. So much for the 6x6 JBL (threaded) waveguides.

Yes, bolt on the 18-Sound XT120 elliptical waveguide. DE10 is VERY similar to their HD120/125. Scroll up to see where you can get both HD120 and XT120 combined for $30, courtesy member Mayhem13....

I've built quite a bit......more than i care to admit......but alas no Ewave variants seemed a good fit. Couldn't make up my mind on which one to build but now it would seem i'll have to do something fresh and new..........Project Mayhem anyone?

If you don't plan on doin anything with those TB woofers, i'll take em off your hands........after some Clio graphs of course! If the mfgrs graphs are to be believed then that's quite a woofer. I've got two but no Holm

Zilch, that last one is what I'm hoping to build with the Klipsch buyouts.

Mayhem, how long did it take from when you ordered to when they shipped the XT120?

And it'll be an excellent Ewave variant i'm sure!......The buyout drivers are perfect for that application as their relatively violent and early breakup has been indentified.....Cross low my friend, cross low! With the modey saved on midwoofers, spend wisely on the CD, as Brandon's identified a CD that can get really low on the 152i.

Been around for a while. Nothing new under the sun . . . there are other examples going back at least 30-40 years . . .

How about something the QSC HPR153i that would take two of the 6.5" drivers instead of just one?
