dayton home theatre package
I am trying to put together a surround sound setup for a family member, but she lives in upstate new york and I live in Washington state.
has anyone heard the dayton Sku 300-694 5.1 speaker package? Is it decent or good? Is it any better than something retail from a big box store?
I would build her something but I hate to take the hit on shipping. But the plot thickens, I have enough NSB's to build her something also. Is the sound quality going to be better with nsb's and something like a dayton tweet (if I can find a build) and take the hit on the shipping?
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I got a set of the 12" for a neighbor. He liked the kit because the Wife wanted small. The mounts were a plus that Dayton threw in. The wires (not)...

His living room has vaulted ceilings with two openings to the kitchen and a loft above the kitchen that's open to the living room not to mention open doors to bedrooms.
I for the life of me didn't think that 12" sub could shake the house but they did. Also bought them on sale with free shipping, can't beat that.

For that price, quite ahead of the HTIB's sold at the large retailers like Best Buy, Fry's, etc. Just the sub alone is better-built than the popular brand-name ones. I have gotten the Dayton SUB-100 and a SUB-120 for a couple friends. Just the subwoofer, not with the front and surround speakers. I'd say a few notches above the SQ of the previous big-box store ones they had. If this is their first HT set-up, they'll probably enjoy it. And the shipping costs for you. I also live here in Wa. and I shipped some speakers I built to a friend in Florida, each speaker in its own box. They were a 2-way, about .4 ft3 in volume per speaker. $48 for each box and I packed them for a tornado. I'm sure they be very happy with that kit. Maybe some DIY speakers for them later...they could still use the sub with their new Cliff-built speakers if they want to upgrade at some point.
