Re: Tarkus: kicking a-- and taking names
Just wondering how many of us here have ever listened to the actual album or if even some have any idea who Emerson Lake and Palmer are.
I had the album way back in the days of vinyl.

Man, I knew that name was familiar! All I could think of was Tardus, which of course is a different universe.

My dad had the vinyl. I loved it. The song, the album art. It was awesomeness. (Now I just have it on CD. Armadillo tanks are not nearly as imposing when it's just on a little jewel case.)

They look great to me. I'm a fan of the SLS drivers. Excellent performance/dollar there. What feet did you use on the bottom of the MT cabinet?
Well done !

I've liked the look of these "From the Beginning".

Re: Tarkus: kicking a-- and taking names
I was a huge ELP fan when I was about 10.
...which was circia 2000.
It probably didn't hurt that my frame of reference was Britney Spears and the Spice Girls. All saccharine pop is bad, but some is worse than others.

Re: Tarkus: kicking a-- and taking names
Anyone have the "Works" LP? It's pretentious, but you can't blame them for trying...
I do feel an affinity for rock musicians that have classical training (Emerson and Palmer, I believe...I doubt Greg Lake received formal training).

Re: Tarkus: kicking a-- and taking names
I think I still have it somewhere. Pretentious? You bet, and maybe even a bit schlocky. But it can be fun, every once in a (long) while.
Great job on the speakers, Paul. I, too, think you did a pretty good job of emulating a Stickley piece.
Could you please elaborate on the DX25 quirks?

Re: Tarkus: kicking a-- and taking names
Good looking design, and a nice write up Paul! Just the ticket, I'll bet, to listen to Steppenwolf, Deep Purple or Stevie Ray...
C
Those of you who like the classical bent of ELP may also enjoy Rick Wakeman’s work on Yes ‘Fragile’ lp.

Re: Tarkus: kicking a-- and taking names
My favorite album of theirs was "Emerson, Lake and Palmer in Concert," which later ended up on the "Works Live" CD.

Re: Tarkus: kicking a-- and taking names
That's one heck of a nice speaker you have there!
"Why does your amplifier hum?"
...
"It hums because it doesn't know the words."

Re: Tarkus: kicking a-- and taking names
The ELP version of "Pictures at an Exhibition" is what got me to first listen to classical. I had Tarkus when it was new and yes I was a fair bit older than 10.

I had all the ELP vinyl (probably still do) and heard them live in Kansas City in their heyday. Great music. I heard Palmer last year when Asia and Yes were touring. There were alot of great concerts I went to in the 70's. Mountain, Kansas, Mason Profit, Blood Sweat and Tears, Black Oak Arkansas, Blue Oyster Cult, Pure Prairie League, Nitty Gritty, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, REO Speedwagon, etc. It was a great time for music. It was also great being in my twenties. Dang that was a long time ago.

I enjoyed these in Iowa, Paul. Nice to see them with clothes on
