    Default What's with this? (PCD)

What's with this spike? The smaller the cap, the bigger the spike. Should I be concerned?

I'd think that bump is due to the FS of the tweeter but for the SB29 tweeters I'd expect the peak to be lower than 1000. you could notch it out with an LCR or try crossing higher to lessen the impedance bump. It's causing a fast shift in impedance phase so I'd try to knock down a little, but I don't think that you need it to entirely go away.

It's a result of the action of the crossover network. The "spike" is no big deal and should not bother any reasonable amplifier. A smaller cap means higher impedance at that frequency, hence, the rising impedance. As long as the acoustic summation doesn't suffer, it should work just fine.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot to see how it sounds.

That spike is the region where the woofer and tweeter are "handing-off" to one another. A large spike indicates that impedance is high on one filter (or both) at that point. As Pete said, it's not an issue for solid-state amplifiers (as long as the phase angle stays within 45 degrees)
