Need a good place to buy veneer
I am looking for a good place to buy some veneer for a speaker project. I would like to find a place with a good selection and a good price. So if anyone can point me in the right direction please do.
Thanks

Re: Need a good place to buy veneer
Joe woodworker is a great place to start. Good prices and service, nice selection, too. I have used quite a bit of paperbacked stuff, with and without PSA with solid results.

to something not away from, cause lies don't need an aeroplane to chase you anywhere.

Oakwoodveneer.com has been very good.

Re: Need a good place to buy veneer
It might help if you describe what type of veneer you are looking for. ie, wood backed, paper backed, phenolic backed, or unbacked.
Unbacked, I like to use certainlywood.com. If you don't have the resources to work with unbacked, then veneersupplies.com is good as well.

Re: Need a good place to buy veneer
Most inexpensive way to veneer is to buy unbacked whole flitches on E-Bay. Lots of sellers of mostly narrow lots which means you'll need to learn about book-matching, trimming and taping the leaves.

You can't use contact adhesive with un-backed which leaves hot hide glue, urea-formaldehyde PPR or PVA with an iron. PPR needs to be clamped but gives a non-creep glue line and the veneer won't shrink or bubble. It is the King of veneer glues.
Now that I'm old I use strictly NBL veneer from Tape-Ease and contact adhesive. The time I save is spent listening to the music. Book-matching Fiddleback Anegre is for the young....and for the birds!

Re: Need a good place to buy veneer
I have bought several types of veneer from Formwood off their sale page for very reasonable prices (if you can find what you want). Tape-Ease also has a overstock page.

Re: Need a good place to buy veneer
If your looking for top notch "naked" veneer hands down B&B Rare Woods www.wood-veneers.com Dave is a super cool guy, and will email photos of the exact piece(s) you are going to get. He also usually throws in some extra pieces of other stuff with your order. Be careful though!! Last time I ordered from them when I received my order he had thrown in some super-dooper ash burl and I had to call him to order more of the ash for another project...I think he reads minds.
