OT: My 12-yr-old dream come true

I have wanted one of these ever since they showed up killing Corvettes, Porsches and Ferrari's in 1991 when I was 12. I found this locally here with only 64K miles and couldn't resist. This is actually one of the Saudi Syclones. Check out the story here:http://www.syty.org/old/saudisy.html. This and my basement project are not helping me get my Mavericks built but in time......

Wow thats certainly a rarity, especially in that kind of shape. Good lookin' truck for sure (and I'm not a GM fan).

Re: OT: My 12-yr-old dream come true
Congratulations! I always liked those too. I remember when they came out and Car&Driver tested it and found the 0-60 time was nearly the same on a wet track as dry. A desire for endless traction is a part of why I now have a Trailblazer SS AWD. Its actually the current big brother to a Syclone now that I think about it.

Re: OT: My 12-yr-old dream come true
Sweet! I always liked those Syclones for the understated style and stealth performance. A guy I worked with when those came out bought one and he absolutely loved driving it. He said that the straight line performance was the best thing about it, but it also had surprisingly good manners around corners and overall very good handling in poor weather conditions... etc. The only thing he wasn't crazy about was how it functioned overall as a work/commuting truck. It's not the ideal truck to pack full of skilsaws, compressors and nailguns. Maintenance costs when it was new were also a bit on the high side.
All the little day-to-day issues aside it's a really cool truck, and last I heard, he's still driving it with a smile. Nothing significantly better has come out since he bought it, so why buy anything else?

Beautiful truck! That's definitely on my list of Top 10.
Enjoy!

The number one performance shop for the Sy-Ty's in the country is here in Rockford. It's called Rockford Racecraft and Guy has people from all over the country ship their trucks/SUV's here for him to modify. Tim Allen is just one of his many customers.

Re: OT: My 12-yr-old dream come true
Tom,
I really haven't done the full boosted launch that these are famous for. I am afraid to break it.
But, I have gotten into it on a rolling start, and 70 happens before you know it. I've driven a Probe GT and a Contour SVT, and this is acceleration on an entirely different level. It just happens so effortlessly.
I am hoping to keep it. I got a really sweet deal on it, and the quick flip profits look nice. I am really not in the financial place to justify keeping it when I can double my money. But, the more I drive it the more I create ways to keep it, so I guess time will tell.

Put it this way...if you keep it in a garage for a few years, with only taking it out for an occasional blast, it'll be worth even more then.

Awesome find man! I've never seen one in that good of condition either. Whoever thought of putting a turbo on a 4.3 back then was just down right a smart fella!
