Re: My 5.1 Build
Some updates. Finally got the xovers complete for the mains and the center. I started with the center then worked my way to the mains. You can tell Ive been getting better at it. Plus after the center tweeter and mids xover I started to use barrier strips. I like this a whole lot better. Also on the mains I put the woofer network onto the back of the tweeter and mids xover board. The lumber yard is supposed to be getting my veneer in soon. Then I have one main and 2 minis to do and Im done at the moment. I am building 2 sets of the switchable statements monitors but I havent gotten the mdf yet. Damn lawn has been keeping me busy. Anyways here is some pics of the xovers. Mains first.

Back in the 90's I hit a deer with my Dodge it flew up into the air and crashed through my windshield. It died instantly. I was lucky it was a female its head ended up in my lap after hitting my chest hard enough to crack a rib. Cops told me I was lucky it died instantly many people get kicked to death from the panicked deer stuck in the car. I had Allstate they were very nice I had an agent named Tom Sawyer! I kid you not. I still use Allstate. BTW the build looks nice!

Re: My 5.1 Build
Hello all,
First off Id like to start off by thanking Fastbike for the amazing AC\DC tracks. They sound great.
Down to business. A lot's been going on lately but I haven't given up on my build. My 2 remaining speakers to be veneered are sitting right in the middle of my garage smacking me in the face everytime i look at them. My dad gave me the veneer to finish them but I have to drive up and get it. I got 2 of the grills framing pieced together but I still need the grill cloth.
I should have thought about this hobby a little more when I started it. As a newbee I just looked at the BOM and thought that the price was very reasonable so I would go for it. I didnt realize that it didnt include all the extras I would need. I figured 25 bucks for a sheet of MDF and I would be good to go. Boy was I wrong. And to top it all off the TB drivers I need jumped up almost 40 bucks per driver. I need 7 of them. Thats almost 300 bucks more for all of them. Yikes. And it don't help my fiance just lost her job due to downsizing. Thats really gonna put a hurt to the bottom line.
But all that aside I finally got time to veneer the 2nd statement yesterday. All I have left to finish is the base. In hindsite I wish I would have painted the base and baffle but its to late to turn back now.
For anyone reading this I will finish this project. I figured by the time I save enough moolah to buy all the drivers itll be the beginning of 2012 before I am a 100% complete with all the speakers. But I will complete them. Even my fiance said that its just money and I need to finish them for me. Bless her heart.
So Ill be patient. And I will win!!!!! Bwwaaahhahahahaaaaa.

Heres some pics. Nothing special. Just some veneering shots. And 1 of my summer hobby. 3-D archery. Nothing gets you ready for October 1st (Opening day of archery here in MI) like practice killing on some foam animals!!!

Re: My 5.1 Build
Still hard at it. Redid my grills the correct way. And I finally got a couple tweets and installed one into my center so its driver compliment is full. So I finally got to listen to a well designed speaker. What r my impressions??? I dunno yet. More to follow.

Re: My 5.1 Build
Hello All,
Just a quick update. I am almost complete. I just need to finish the minis and get a couple of more speakers (2-7", 2 Mids, and 1 tweeter) to finish them up. In the meantime I finally got some help moving the Statements into there listening postions last night. Cranked them up for the first time this morning. I am going to be honest, I shed a tear or two when I did. It was a culmination of tons of hard work and time. I was completely blown away. The clarity and quality of the sound is something these ears have never heard. I was floored. Its like listening to all my favorite music for the first time. I cant thank Curt, Jim, and Wayne enough for that. You guys did an amazing job and I cant believe you just share your designs. Good on ya fellas. Good on ya.
Ill update more when I get them broke in but I cant imagine them sounding any better than they do now. Whoa!
