Default AviaTrix vs Encore for tower?

I'd like to build a pair of speakers for my living room that will be run in stereo and it will be for general TV, movies, and music duty.

The idea is to use either the AviaTrix or RS621 component kit and have the upper portion of the tower sealed so that the enclosure meets all of the associated design specs. Then in the lower portion of the tower (sealed off from the top) I will incorporate a powered subwoofer of some design that I haven't done yet...probably vented 8" to 10" side firing...maybe.

I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with either/both the AviaTrix or RS621 Encores and which they feel would best suit the application.

I also welcome any other comments on the overall idea.

Someone here did that with Jeff Bagby's Continuum MT and Wolf's 10" RSs 10• Attitude subwoofer design. I'm sure those sound awesome, you should check them out.

Zaph offers exactly that option for his BAMTM. See the discussion and box drawing towards the end of this link:

Thanks for the links guys, those are pretty much exactly what I'm looking at doing.

Now the BAMTM is in the running as well. Any suggestions, subjective as they might be, for one kit vs the others? I've never had the opportunity to sit down and listen to any of these (or any diy speakers, for that matter), so I'm kind of flying deaf!

I built a set of Encores in tower configuration for my brother. He uses them for music / non-HT duties. They sound very nice. I think a good option would be to increase the depth a bit and put a front-firing Cerberus sub in the empty lower section. might need to increase the width a bit, too.
