Was good. Lots of mono... it was a different world. In WWII, he was pulled from a unit going to the front in Germany after someone heard him play. And he was already married at the time. An amazing life.

Great show. I DVR'd it some months ago when it aired on my TV and locked it up so it wouln't get erased. Now, I can watch it again sometime.

Watched it for the second time and enjoyed it all over again.
If your local library carries the sixties live jazz dvd's recorded in Europe, the Brubeck sets are excellent and worth watching as are the others I've seen on Roland Kirk , Anita O'Day and Cannonball Adderly.
I like how the DB quartet plays as a group .
Hard to believe Paul Desmond smoked 3 packs of unfiltered cigarettes a day his adult life , but that was the fifties.

Just watched a bio-documentary on Eastwood, had a nice little section on his Jazz activities and events.

Notable but sorta disconnected, except for the Eastwood connection, a good series of documentaries are the "Blues" series.. think it was Scorcese (sp?) as the director, he realized the Blues was too big a subject for one film, got 4-5 other directors to make others, Eastwood did a piano jazz/blues treatment. Good stuff...
