Lightbulb A possible generic 2-way xover layout...

This is how my Glucinium Amor xovers came together. Thinking about it, there is a multitude of ways to make this layout feasible with differing wirings. All of them keep these criteria in check:

-This keeps the input leads on the outside edge of the board, as well as making common connections a snap.
-This makes inductor placement and rotation easy.
-This leaves plenty of room for LCR and other filters in the remainder of the space, with connections close to typical wiring points. One jumper may be required.
-Driver connection points are also close.
-Resistors are on the outside of board for better heat dissipation.

Just flipping the woofer and tweeter cap position makes the input hard to get to the tweeter cap or resistor, but you can still have a zobel, an L-pad, added DCR for the tweeter, etc with this as it lays.

For higher order, lay the next woofer coil next to the other at a right angle, and it will still be out of sight with the tweeter coil. Lay the additional caps on top of the first 2.

    Just thought I would share,

This will probably help out alot of Newbs like myself when it comes to x-over assembly. They look really nice, too.

So... since you did the Cap Test and I've noticed you using MKPs alot recently, should I assume?

    Glad I could help!

No- MKP is a designation for a poly cap. That's all it means. There are different mixes of MK_, but essentially all polys. Yes- I prefer polys.

Thanks Wolf - I always struggle a bit with layout, but I think I get better with each build. Lately I've been striving for the most compact layout, and this will help.

You forgot to include "for non-commercial use only"

Looks very nice, Ben. Very compact layout.

I'm glad you all find it useful. For 2-ways, I can't really see a tighter and more applicable layout either. I don't think it will work for 3-ways, but it could be 'scalable' if that applies. I would use what's there as tweeter and woofer, and add a midrange board off to one side of it. The midrange tends to be the largest network.

I hope to have more examples in the future, and I hope you show how/if it worked for your builds. I'd really like to see them!

    Thanks,
    Wolf

PS- the commercial thing? Most use PCB's anyway....
