Looking for a HiVi F6 Project
Hello,
I don't know if many of you remember me but I was pretty active here and at the DIY meets back in 06' thru 09'. I'm looking for a finished design that uses the HiVi F6's that Shawn A did back in 09' for the DIY Dayton Event. I have searched for about an hour without success.
Am I back into speaker building? Well I can't say at this point but I have a pair of these speakers that I would like to use in a larger project that I am working on that AFAIK know has never been presented on this forum. (Let's just say that it isn't just a pair of speakers)
If someone can point me in the direction of Shawns project or another published project using the F6's, I would be greatly appreciative.

Re: Looking for a HiVi F6 Project
Wolf knows about the design. I've tried myself by searching & PM-ing ShawnA, but like you, nothing so far. I remember Wolf saying it was a very nice project with very few crossover components. Good luck!

You're referring to the "Pluggers" with the XT19.

I don't have info on the xover. I'll give him a inkling you've been asking... It was Dayton 2006 he brought those.
Later, and welcome back! Hope you stick around. It hasn't been the same at Dayton DIY/MWAF without you...
Wolf
PS- send me a PM if ya want... I might be able to tweak something out. How's Connie and the kid?

Re: Looking for a HiVi F6 Project
I designed a bookshelf system using the F6 a few years ago. I'm not exactly sure what you are after, but I would be happy to share my design with you. I realize that I am a bit of an unknown quantity in the DIY world, but judging by the reactions I get from friends, family, and others who have listened to them I think I did a fair job. I have a write-up on the design that I can e-mail to you if you would like. I would just post it here, but the document file is too large and the attachement manager won't let me upload it. Let me know,
- Steve

All I could find was some info on the lowpass, but I pretty sure he revised it and used only 2 components.

The coil is .75 mH, capacitor is 5.6 uF. The conjugate filter is a 22 uF cap and an 8 ohm resistor. I've got to hit the hay now but I'll look into using the Silkie in some modeling and see what I come up with for ya.

Yeah- it was 2 parts! I actually watched him solder the coil and cap to the driver the night before the event, whilst burning himself or coming close on more than one occasion. Something tells me it was a 0.6mH coil, but I really can't remember for certain.
I sent him an e-mail, hopefully he'll chime in.

Re: Looking for a HiVi F6 Project
If you are interested in a HiVi F6/Seas 22TAF/G 2-way I can probably dig up the details. In the long run I think you might like Shawn's a little better, but this one ain't bad.

Re: Looking for a HiVi F6 Project
I greatly appreciate all of the responses that I have received so far. Please keep them coming!
That is what I remember about this forum. All of the great help!
Thanks,
Chris
PS. Since I haven't been around for quite a while I thought I would throw up a couple of pics of my theater room. I have moved since I last posted here. My theater room is now about 700 sq/ft. The screen in the pictures is 110" DIY setup. The line arrays are a project that I brought to a DIY event quite a few years ago and the front subs are RS-270's.

Re: Looking for a HiVi F6 Project
Some estimated info...
....in regards to to the Pluggers, it was in a PE cabinet, and Shawn made a Poplar baffle for it. If you estimate the dimensions, that should tell you what cab it was in, and it resembles the 0.5ft^3 cab. I estimated for more assurance, and it looks like the 0.5ft^3 'square' PE cab. The port appears to be 1.5"-2" diameter, and about 3-4" long.
Likely this model:

I'll try a simple sim to see what I get from it...
I'll report back...

Based on my experience I believe that Wolf is right on all counts, including the port model.

Re: Looking for a HiVi F6 Project
CHRIS! Where/how ya been? I'll dig up a scheme for you as soon as I can. Sorry I've been slow in responding. Just been caught up this year doing everything but speakers to a certain degree. I might have to pull some things apart to get to the guts of the crossover I ended up with but not a big deal at all, especially for one of the old school guys.
