Default I really like my craigslist ad for this awful bass cab...

I was recently given a 1x15 bass cab made by a local company that makes ok road cases and apparently tries to make speakers. It's got to be the worst heaping pile of crap I've ever seen. First of all the only thing holding the baffle in is brad nails or staples around the outside of the shell of the cab and perhaps a little glue (there are gaps). There is absolutely no bracing and its 1/2" house shearing plywood so it's as resonant as can be.

The woofer had absolutely no screws in it at all, it was being held in by the grill clamps. wtf?

These guys need to stick to making road cases.

The ONE thing I'm amazed they did was some dampening material. While we're on the subject, what is this stuff? It's not fiberglass...

You can see my pessimistic ad trying to sell it for $50 here:

Do you guys think someone will buy it? I'm going to try to stay firm around 45-50 bucks for a while. Place your bets...

It's polyester batting and is a perfectly good damping material. It seems that whoever built the POS at least got that much right.

Yeah I was impressed by that too! Maybe the only reason they had it around though is because they use it in their road cases. IDK I'd like to know where I can find some for myself though..

I've seen woofers held in by clamps before, and it's not always a bad thing, but not with those cheap arse clamps. And those ports seem WAY too small for that driver. Was that the jack hanging out? And the bare painted plywood face, never acceptable is a retail product, I might do that for myself when I'm in a hurry, but not on something you are going to sell.

On the positive side, I like the compact form!

True. Many EV cabs used that style of mounting, but with heavy duty hardware and eight of them, not four.
