Where can I buy closed cell foam port plugs for 2.5" and 3" ports?

Have you tried to just tightly roll up a used shirt?

If standard PVC pipe is used there are plug caps that would work.

You can contact them and ask if they have a 3".

Find a "test plug" at your local hardware store. They are cheap, easy to add/remove, and the lockdown real tight. They look like this http://suntai999.en.hisupplier.com/p...lar-Plugs.html

Yes, which is why I specified "closed cell foam". A rolled up fabric port plug works well as an aperiodic vent but it does not fully seal the port. It also looks very diy sticking out of the back of a high end speaker.

A nerf ball would be the most cost effective solution if I could find one that's the right size. So far I haven't. If anybody does find a 3" nerf ball please post the link.

I discussed this with Rufus, my tomcat, and here's the link to a picture of his response. http://fredt300b.smugmug.com/Other/M...02292733_YUncW

I checked every store in Houston and cannot find a closed cell foam sock. Where do you get yours? Are they a special order item?

Thanks, everybody, for the suggestions. The closest thing I was able to find are 4" foam ***** for $1.66/ea from Amazon.com. They should compress to fit a 2.5" or 3" flared port. I'll order a few and post a message about how well they fit. http://www.amazon.com/Dick-Martin-Sp...12/ref=lh_ni_t

WOW, I just previewed this message and noticed the word I used to decscribe round objects that are often used in sports games has been replaced with asterisks. My wife returned just yesterday from three days at the world series in Arlington Tx and has been talking nonstop about the games and parties she attended. I must caution her not to use the b-word in polite converstation!

The word censoring protocols here are just plain silly.

Its well known that we speaker builders are a potty mouth lot always talking about buts and joints and b@lls. But if they think we're bad they should try starting a plumbing forum...

    Fred,
I don't recall seeing Rufus at your house during our get togethers. Was he hiding from us?
