    Default Favorite Christmas/holiday music.

It's been awhile since I've bought or found a really good holiday recording.

What are your favorites and what media are they on? What is on everyone's must have list?

    The Reign of Kindo
    Dave Barnes
    Sister Hazel
    Relient K

Those are some of my favorites. Of course, I'm not into a lot of the music that guys reference on here, so these artists may not be your style either. I like 'em though!

Well I love Sinatra's Christmas songs, but I think Trans-Siberian Orchestra takes the cake in the awesome Christmas music category.

I have a bunch of holiday CD's, the wife only allows me to play Christmas music between Thanksgiving and New Years

Last year, after the holidays, I started putting together a Grooveshark playlist, need to get back on it and finish it. Got distracted by all the other "great music" threads.

    Here is one: http://grooveshark.com/playlist/Xmas...call-to-action

    And another: http://grooveshark.com/playlist/Xmas...call-to-action

    Enjoy!

John Fahey's acoustic guitar instrumental Christmas album
and the Merry Axemas all guitarists compilation which is really good . The version of O Little Town Of Bethlehem by Robin Trower really shines .
The only clinker is the track by Ted Nugent , rest are excellent .
+1 on the Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown Christmas album

Unless you absolutely hate Bluegrass, and even if you do, this is a nice little gem. Full digital recording (in Jackson Hole I believe).

A little rough at times, but at least it comes from the heart.

I really like Rockapella's Christmas CD. The covers are really good, and the originals are exceptional! (Those who like to audition their speakers with a capella music might want to check this out as well)

Also, Merry Axemas is a good disc.

    The Christmas Song - Raveonettes

From "Christmas With The Kranks" - 2004
Tim Allen - Jamie Lee Curtis

Fairly funny - but very cool sub effect when all the Xmas lights blow out the neighborhood's power.

A Victorian Christmas by Robert DeCormier is excellent: http://www.amazon.com/Victorian-Chri...034751&sr=1-10

And the Kingston Trio - Last Month of the Year is also excellent:

I guess I have a soft spot to both of those because that's what I listened to growing up.

Of course, the Charlie Brown Christmas goes without saying.

My favorite Christmas CDs (by Type):

Vocals: "We Three Kings" by the Roches

New Age: "Christmas Live" or "Christmas Celebration" by Mannheim Steamroller (depending on your performance preferences)

Jazz: "Charlie Brown Christmas" by Vince Guaraldi

Brass: "The Christmas Album" by the The Canadian Brass

Telarc's Christmas with the Pops - nicely recorded.

Straight No Chaser's Christmas Cheers a cappella vocal work, very witty.

I like the classics and carols, but my favorite Christmas music has got to be anything by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. They add a certain energy to Christmas music that I think the classics lack and really strikes a chord with me.

Edit: their 'Christmas Eve and Other Stories' is my favorite of their albums.
