looking for suitable woofer
I'm looking for a woofer that will fit into an enclosure of around 25-50 liters, and still reach down into the 30's (hz) if possible. Could be ported or some kind of transmission line. Any suggestions on 8 or 10 inchers?
This will serve as a bass unit up to about 150 ~ 250 hz.
the cheaper the better.

Re: looking for suitable woofer
If you are not going to push it too hard (60 watts+), I have had very good results with the SD215-88 Dual Voice Coil Subs. These work well in a ported enclosure of about 40-60 Litres, and will get down to the mid 20s, f3 of 27Hz in a 66 liter box. They are NLA but, there might be some in the Classifieds for cheap.

Now it's the SD215A-88. Basically the same w/OUT the big shielding cup.

Re: looking for suitable woofer
Kinda need to know your application. If you're looking for low-level bass, you could get away with THIS in a small ported or PR enclosure. I'd stick with the Dayton SA-25 amp or you will quickly exceed xmax.
I modeled it HERE, but have not had a chance to build anything yet.
Johnny used that buyout sub with THIS PR and got good results.

Good luck.

I'd forgotten about that one (SD215-88). I built a sub with one in a 30 liter box, and got fb at about 28. I have a great memory -- it's just short.
Any others for consideration out there?

The new one does not need as large of a box, but it also has a lower Qts, and rolls off higher, not much difference between a QB3 and SC4 alignments. Better suited to a sealed enclosure.
That 6.5 inch buyout uses an enclosure around 2 ft^3 but it will get quite low. been lookin at that one myself.

Nah, it actually performed rather poorly in the bigger cabinets I tried it in. It ended up being much happier in the ~0.6 cubic feet.

Re: looking for suitable woofer
Silver Flute 8"?
Available in both 4 and 8 ohm variants, fairly efficient and can be crossed higher if required. 1khz would be doable if you REALLY had to. It does need a larger cab. I'd recommend 40-45L. I've used them in my TMWW towers, and I have zero reason to add a sub for either SPL or low-end reach.
Also, they're very affordable and are built REALLY well.

I'll look into the 8" Silver Flute. I've used the 6.5" and was impressed with the sound. Thanks for that.
