Default Is it possible to use the OmniMic hardware

as the input device for Room EQ Wizard (while using the computer's internal sound device to output the test signal)?

Yes. The OmniMic will also work as a USB plug in mic for other software and use the USB power as phantom power. It is not calibrated in this configuration, but since, I believe, it uses a standard Panasonic capsule, a typical cal file should work reasonably well. Without it you will only be off a little at high frequencies anyway. Bill can correct me if I have any of this wrong.

You can try exporting the cal file and using that in another program.
When you stop caring about being right, you might actually learn something.

I was not aware you could do this but, from the small section of a post from Bill at AVS it may be possible in the future. I do think Bill will have to clarify this though.

"The new calibrations will be file-based (not code-based) as that is needed to provide the calibration down to 5Hz that people want and also should give the calibrating technician a view of what the curves look like so oddities can be weeded out. A new OM software version has been compiled for using the file-based calibration."

From post 51 from the thread at AVS below.
