More power is always a good thing. You might consider acquiring a 3ch amp from Emotiva, if your Denon has pre-outs.

Nice choice of speakers. Paul's voicing is spot on.

As to AVRs, certainly rime for an upgrade. As Pete pointed out, more power is always better and the mains you've chosen aren't real efficient so Pete's spot on.
Harmon Kardon has in my experience been the only mfgr to really meet their power ratings. The 2600 provides all the HDMI and other goodies to keep, you future proof for a while and street prices are around $400.

As mentioned, if you have pre-outs available...and want power for less money.. I seriously recommend that you search around for an ADCOM gfa series. One of the larger ones such as the 5400 or gfa1a can be had under $200 and they perform stellar. I recently had a chance to side by side with a rotel, and 2 different itterations of adcom were audibly superior. As with any older electronics, the capacitors will be the first to go...I strongly recommend you audition what you buy and you will know right away if it is good. The gfa5400 was rated at 140-150wpc...though many have been tested at well over 200 into 4ohms. Mine runs only barely warm on my towers which dip to 3.7 ohms at places, with more power than I need for that setup.

I am really thinking about doing these for my front l/r to my future surround. I am just scared that it may be too much for my 14x12 living room. I do want a 3-way though.

    2 questions

    would 100w be sufficient?

Also, can you use the M6N instead?

Probably. They are virtually the same thing.

Good luck! I've been working on a version of these with a slot port.
9.5w x 26 t x 16 d. I need them to sit on top of built in cabinets or I would be building the towers. I'm still drawing in Sketchup but can't wait to get started.

    Look forward to your build!

Here is my sketchup so far.. Pretty well braced inside, of course you can't see that now.

    9"w x 39"t x 15"d...

    +1 on the ADCOM's

I have an ADCOM GFA-555 II on my JL 12w6v2 for my HT. Bridged ~ 600 watts into 8-ohms. I feel bad that it's currently relegated to "sub" duty, but it won't be for long. These puppies kick serious *** and barely sweat with 4-ohm loads under extreme loudness.

By summertime, it will be back on stereo duty.....

    Right on, man.

While the Emotiva stuff is a few steps above, I would agree that Adcom (and Parasound) offer GREAT value on the used market. While more is better, I feel a GFA-5300 (or older 535) would suffice, although a 5400 (or older 545) would be where I'd start. Be careful with the older models - caps are most likely dried up and need replacing. The HCA-750, HCA-1000A, or HCA-1500A would also be good options.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Excited to see this build, I have the boxes all made up for the mtm's but no drivers etc. Would it be worth building these instead and just saving the mtm boxes for a later date? Does anyone have any pictures of these completed?

    Thanks

Check the HTGuide forum, I think there's a build there.

Nice, will be real interested to track your progress. Are you going to be crossing to a sub?

I asked Paul if this baffle layout was ok too.
