    Leroy -
glad you are digging the Aurbacs. The NS6s are a real bargain, but they do take some volume to be able to dig down.

congrats on completing your medical problems also.

I don't find that they need all that much volume. In fact while my daughter was here she commented how much lower they played than anything else I connected.

I still have another week in the sling, then I start physical therapy.

Glad you are liking them, Leroy. Them high "Q" woofers can be very picky on stuffing, so I am glad you were willing to do a little experimenting.

And you are correct - they are not very sensitive. All things considered, though, they were one of my favorite builds to date.

If you find the treble getting to you someday, there are a few mods to the piezo that can be done plus you can always tweak the resistor complement as well.

Again, thank you for the kind words.

P.S. - I have been "enjoying" a torn/worn rotator cuff in my right shoulder for several years now. Putting off surgery as long as possible, mainly because I just have too much sh!t to do. Glad to hear it went well, and after watching my dad go through his PT after his rotator cuff surgery I know some painful moments lie ahead. Be patient and it will get better.

Ok, my shoulder has healed enough that I was able to get the drivers mounted and wired in the Antey24s. The Vifa BC25SC06-04 tweeter seems to be working well with the rcarpenters original crossover. I'm still breaking them and haven't decided if I need to make any attenution adjustments to the tweeter. At this point I am thinking it is good as is with no adjustments for the different tweeter.

    Hi Leroy,

Any reason you chose to use the BC25SC06-04 over the original tweet? Was it price or did you already have them?

What are your listening impressions of the 24s?

    Nicholas.

I chose the BC25SC06-04 for a number of reasons.
At the time it was fairly inexpensive in keeping with the budget Sony woofers.
It's specs were very similar to the original tweeter that was used in the design so I was curious how it would fair.
Using this tweeter I didn't need to route a wave guide to rear mount it and it's faceplate is small enough that it wouldn't overlap the woofer openings.
I spoke with r-carpenter about it when I was in New York auditioning his original set and he felt that at most I may need to make some attenuation adjustments to the crossover, but that it should otherwise be a drop in replacement. So far I am feeling like I am not going to make any changes to the crossover. They sound just fine with the crossover as it was designed for the original tweeter.

As far as listening impressions so far:
The mids and highs crisp and detailed and they really fill the room and create nice sound stage. I actually got up from my seat and put my ear to my center channel speaker while playing stereo music to make sure the center wasn't actually playing anything, because it sounded like the singers voice was coming from the center speaker.
They have a limited low end, (I would guess at between 80-100Hz). Teamed with a good sub, I think these would really shine.
So far I have listened to some Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Josh Turner, Saharah Smith, Alison Kraus, Lady Gaga and other current pop artists and some classical symphony music. All sound good except some of the current pop stuff. I'm assuming the problem with the pop stuff was bad recordings. I really like how Zeppelin and Black Sabbath sound on them. The classical symphony music is where they really shine though. The arrays really fill the room top to bottom with the music. I can't really say how they compare to r
-carpenters original design since it has been a long while since I heard his and my listening room is much different than the room his were in.

My box of clamps. I try to buy at least one more every time I visit Harbor Freight.

    Thanks Leroy R.
Always exiting to see your design reproduced and reviewed favorably.
If anyone wants to send me BC25 for crossover alteration, measurements and verifications, I can do it fairly easily.
What's your impression of low level detail reproduction (such as spacial information) from line array compare to a conventional 2-way with similar frequency response?

The low frequencies seem to be making significant improvement with break in of the drivers. Bass drum beats sound like a bass drum. They are not boomy, nor do they roll on longer than they should. I still feel they would do well with a nice subwoofer assisting the low end. The arrays seem more encompassing than the two ways that I have built. This is most apparent in symphony type music like the Lord of the Rings soundtrack that I am currently listening to. They create a very nice sound stage. Each instrument seems to be coming from the location that it would have been in on a stage. I was listening to some Jethro Tull yesterday and really enjoyed that on these too. My favorite album of his is "The Broadsword and the Beast".

Pop in Korn's MTV Unplugged album, there's a track with a set of Tyko (sp?) drummers throughout the song, my Sennheiser HD448s (semi open) did an amazing job on the reproduction of the drums. I'll bet those towers do a good job, too.

I don't have that album. Can you tell me the song title so I can try to find it on You Tube? I did find a few of their songs and they do sound good.

About 80hz to a 100hz is rite. I would do two subs or just low frequencies drivers covering from a 100hz down. RS225 comes to mind, or two per side

The taiko drums at the beginning of the Korn song are awesome! I listened to the over and over until I remembered there were some in the sound track of Battlestar Galactica and went searching. I found this one. I don't know if there is a higher quality version out there or not, but it's a fun listen.

I have the house to myself today so cranked these up to both of the Taiko drum links above and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have some neighbors or cops stopping by soon. These have no trouble reproducing those drums and doing it very loud.
