I'm also planning to down fire them. The only way to convince the wife to get 2 subs, was telling that they will look like tables and she would be able to put plant pots on top
I will do something more plain looking though.

Yup, gonna down fire. Shouldn't be a problem MMS measured on my pair is pretty high so there shouldn't be any problems controlling the cone. Besides, for $57 each, I'm not that concerned. Don't usually design for downfire, but I like the picture of the Sub table. I have also seen some other "furniture like" builds that are clever additions to the plain box. May do those for my ZX Spectrum build.

I did like your cab design as well.

It would be interesting to see how the XLS1000 would act on a 2 ohm stereo load with the DVC version
What did you find better by using the XLR inputs? Just curious, I may go buy a pair of connectors...

I am using the XLR outs from my preamp (USP-1) and the extra line out signal seems to work with the Crown amp--this all makes sense to me. To add, the input signal to the preamp is also boosted to ~7v with the addition of my line-level FET amp... With that said, I notice a difference in SPL regardless what I use for an input (CD, IPod. etc..).

You need to have XLR connectors coming out from your source... There is a difference in output signals. What are you driving your Crown with?

    That answers my question

I'm using an onkyo tx-nr708, so it is RCA to RCA.
I get enough output, with 1 sub. I'll see what I get with both of them and perhaps get an art cleanbox pro to boost the signal and use the XLRs in the crown.
