Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
I plan to be right up front like a good student, Dave. I showed up sunday last year and got the drive by version of using PCD. I will have all my equipment with me so I can for sure walk away with this PCD thing down. Dave, what do you use for measurements? I have used both ARTA and HOLM. Thank you! cant wait to see your demo.

I used to use JustMLS, have used ARTA and now how have the current version of OmniMic. OmniMic is very convenient especially for an event like this, easy to set up and start measuring. So I will have OmniMic with me.

Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
Two weeks to go, do you need RSVPs or pre-registration from people planning to attend, or do we just show up at the appointed time and place?
-
Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
If you are going to stay on campus I would appreciate a couple days notice. If you are driving in Saturday for the day I don't need advance notice but Security will ask you to register at the front desk so we know how many people we have on campus.
-
Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
Since the appointed weekend is fast approaching, is there an itinerary yet, so we'll know where to go and when?
And should we bring things? I can bring a pair of LS3/5As, for example, if anyone is interested.

Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
Bring anything you want to share with others. Any time after Noon on Friday you can check in to the building. 100 Whittington Avenue. I have most of your names that are planning to stay on campus. If you haven't contacted me please do so. That helps me have the room key ready for you.
Friday is arrivals and we will head to the Brau Haus for dinner and beverages.
Saturday morning we will set up the multi-purpose room for listen hooking up equipment. So if you are bringing an amp you might want to be there. We start at 8:00 a.m. There are several places within walking distance for breakfast.
10:00 a.m. we will fire up whatever equipment everyone has brought and listen to tunes. If you have some favorite test tracks bring them with.
Noon we will head for lunch at Bohemia, continental cruisine. Cost is $10-$12 without alcohol.
1:00 p.m. Bob Brines will do a presentation on quarter wave cabinets in the Board Room
2:00 p.m. Dave Thomas will do a presentation on software crossover design
3:00 - 3:30 p.m. Back to the multi-purpose room for more equipment reviews
5:00 p.m. We will get ready for dinner at Rolandos (Cuban)
6:30 p.m. Free time
Sunday 10:00 a.m. Back to multi-purpose room for a final review.
Noon lunch to be determined.

Mike, send me a private message with your skype info. IT will have the room set up for Dave's presentation.

Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
Looks like we will head out to dinner around 6:30 p.m. on Friday for those checking in. Security has my cell phone number if you get in a little after and want to join us. Pretty easy to find the Brau Haus.

Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
I will have a measurement system there for those wanting to have their speakers measured. If you have any odd ball driver bring them and I can measure them too. Also you should bring a baffle or cabinet to measure your drivers in. I can do frequency and impedance measurements while we are there.

Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
Okay, here is my best description of what you need to do if you are arriving Friday.
Come to the 100 Whittington address and hit the driveway that takes you to the front doors. You can check in with Security who will have you room key and room number. There are carts for unloading just ask Security where they are located. Security will ask you to register and give you a name tag to wear while on campus.
When you get to your room there will be linens, pillows, towels for your use. We will be each others entertainment for the most part so I am trying to put everyone on the same floor.
Lots of places to eat and drink in Hot Springs within walking distance. Fat Jacks is literally right across the street. It is a seafood bar. The Arlington Hotel and has food and beverages. Rolando's is before the Arlington. They have a back deck to sit outside and the weather has cooled off.
If you have a problem Security can contact me by cell phone.
I will post for Saturday and its activities shortly.

Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
Security will tell you where you can park under camera protection.

Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
Saturday, for those here already there are several places to catch breakfast within walking distance. Colonial Cafe is literally across the street. Good food, serive isn't always fast but the food is worth it. Pancake House about two blocks down on the right. More variety, bigger place. Buckwheat and Buttermilk pancakes along with the rest of the breakfast menu. Good ham. It gets crowded before Colonial so if you get there and have to wait hit Colonial.
For those of you arriving on Saturday. You will need to check in with Security at 100 Whittington and get registered. You can park on the street after you unload or acroos the street bordering the park where there is shade. We will be setting up in the mulit-purpose room no later than 9:00a.m. we plan to start demoing around 10:00 a.m.
We will break for lunch around Noon and head to Bohemia which has a wide variet of item, icluding vegetarian entrees. After that we will head over to the Boardroom for two presntations. Bob Brines will present on quarterwave cabinets and Dave Thomas will present on camputer software for crossovers. We will start at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. for the presentations.
After the presentation we will head back to the multi-purpose room to demo more and sometime around 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. we will head to dinner at Rolando's (Cuban). They have a nice patio bordering on the National Park so my guess is some of us may have a few adult beverages.-

Re: Acoustic Development in Hot Springs, AK
So far a nice night out with the guys, funny thing is we found some really nice brews, but I finished the night of with a PBR! Time for some pancakes and then some speakers. I will try to post some teaser pics later! Anybody who lives in a 3 hour radius could leave right now and make it here in time to start the days activities.
Come on down
