    Default first of two

Thought I should post a few, now that I got them done.

A few years ago, I bought several (6) close out HiVi A5+ drivers and some assorted tweets. The original plan was to build 3 MTM boxes for the HT. half way through, I moved, then plans changed and we went with in-walls. So these sat for some time, then I got around to doing something with them, this is number 1.

This one we will call the overnight INSPIRATION, because the were heavily inspired by the OS. Not a copy of course, but not entirely original either.

They are BR design, tuned to about 45 hz. Because they are close out woofs, I wont bother with the X-over details, they are second order. Cabs are 12mm Baltic Birch, and the ports flared on the outside only.

I run them off a Lepai amp at my desk at work. Sound is really very good, I left the tweeter a bit hot, because I sit off axis below them, and I just give it a bit of EQ if I am away from my desk around the lab. Bass is strong enough to call them full range for the power they see, and imaging is excellent.

Those look nice. I have those drivers, and I'm interested in what you ended up with for a crossover. Did it require a rather large value inductor?

They are ALMOST identical to the OS, I would have to dig up the old schematics to give exact values. I would bet that if you used the exact OS x-over, it would be more then satisfactory. You will need to pad the tweet a bit more because it seems these are not as efficient as the new HiVi.
