Default Best/Worst Listening I've Done in Awhile...

Just finished up listening to a good mix of tunes from 80's to jazz to rock. I hardly ever get the chance to just listen to music on the stereo anymore, somewhere along the line life got pretty busy.

So I was out there on the lawnmower, ear plugs inserted snugly listening to some of my favorite music and having a ball. It really took me back to when I was younger when I used to mow the grass and ride motor-bikes as a kid for hours on end listening to music I loved, (on cassettes, of course). I felt some of those happy feelings like I used to when I was a kid, before life got so complicated. Having a couple of hours to spend mowing in a nice breeze really puts me in a good frame of mind for some reason. I never thought I liked mowing that much.

Of course, having 27 hp of Briggs engine running behind me at full boogie is far from optimum, acoustically speaking, but I sure had fun. Got some color too.

I'm with you on that Tom. I have an empty lot 100x125 that I mow with a push mower. Yesterday I decided to listening to music while mowing. So I borrowed my sons noise cancelling earbuds. I normally just wear earplugs,no music. It's almost like I found myself a nice little getaway. Going to have to get my own earbuds.

Tom, that's a great idea. I have an acre of lawn to mow and last year I replaced my aging 17-year-old MTD 12HP Briggs I/C-engined 42"-er with a Craftsman Kohler-engined 22HP with 46" cut. My first Hydrostatic drive mower, and I'll never go back. It was the only Craftsman model that had the Kohler Courage engine. Any-hoo, I think I'll get some of those ear-protector/headphones for my Discman so I can listen to music while I mow. Thanks to your post, I'm going to do that now. I always wear hearing protection with the same ear-muff style ones I use for power tools, so having some that'll let me enjoy music will be great.

I remember cutting with a 42" deck, 7.25 hp 4 speed garden tractor
Could attach a front snow plow and rear roto-till on 3 pt hitch

Portable music was a small radio with ear plug, no cassettes yet!

I use my Klipsch S2i (going to try the S4 since these are dying) for mowing and doing shop work--routing baffles, etc. They attenuate sound SO well that you really don't have to turn up the volume. Just make sure to run the cord inside your shirt if you're using power tools!

I'm actually just using some cheap buyouts i got from pe a few yarrs ago. Only 4$ if i remember right. They sound fine but really attenuate the noise. I should break out the koss sparkplugs, they sound pretty good also. I didn't know klipshxsold plugs, horn earplugs?
