I have sung in several barbershop quartets/choruses over the past couple of years and have been using learning tracks from Tim Waurick for a couple years.

He has an album that I just bought that is amazing! This is probably one of my favorite songs from it:

Also digging this song lately (Nearer My God To Thee - VocalPoint):

I just discovered these guys through my BIL last night. Their perfromance may not be everyone's cup of tea but you cannot deny that is some nice harmony.

For many years I assumed Classical Gas was a Synergy original. One day I heard a remake on guitar on my wife's oldies station. Wait... what? oldies? remake? That doesn't make sense.
I guess I had never heard the Mason Williams original.
    There's a good chance I don't know what I'm talking about.

Its not classy like the stuff being mentioned here, but man I've been listening to Soundgarden's Live to Rise a lot. Its a great song. Its the end credits song for the Avengers. :P

Here's one that someone at work showed me. An Italian singer that wrote a song to mimic the way they heard the american song writers at the time.

I don't have a link for it, but I love using Dire Straits "On every street" when I am comparing speaker systems.

LOL thanks ... Yeah I actually meant the whole album, but especially this song. It to me is very dynamic, and can really pin point flaws in quality speaker designs, especially at the end.

Probably not many people's taste on here, but I heard "Darkness Within" by Machine Head for the first time today on Sirius's Octane channel. The lyrics are great. It starts out with softer vocals, but really ramps up mid way through. \m/

This is my current hot list. I accidentally ran across this movie, nearly changed the channel, but then was caught off guard by the opening song which reminded me of the group Ladysmith Black Mambazo. 2+ hours later I really enjoyed this old movie and LOVED this song.
Zulu - Men of Harlech There are some pretty amazing Choral recordings of the song.

Another throw back band similar to Alabama Shakes mentioned earlier in this thread..
    Eli 'Paperboy' Reed

One of my all-time favorite songs, done perfectly... Savannah Outen - Hallelujah

And for anyone who liked feltrider99 suggestions from VocalPoint...
Peter Hollens and The Swingle Singers
    Noteworthy - Happy Ending
    Amazin Blue - Forgiveness
Pentatonix - How will I know

In case you can't tell, I'm a huge a cappella fan. Been that way every since I sang in a group back in college.

Wow had forgotten about "Van Halen 1984", the title track as it intros to and including Jump. I was reminded today about it as I was riding along with a trainee, and he was going through my CD's. Sounds Awesome turned up!!! Can only imagine how it would sound on a good system. Here is a link
