    Default Attenuating sateliite speakers

I'm using a basic 2.1 system. That is, a DVC subwoofer and a pair of satellites using a 2way subwoofer crossover at 150 Hz. The low pass filter is 12db/oct and the high pass is 6db/oct.

The sensitivity of the sub is 89db in stereo/parallel mode. The satellites are 2-way coax speakers with a sensitivity of 89db each with a built-in 2-way crossover at 3200Hz.

I need to attenuate the satellite by approx. 4-6 db. Is it safe to place the attenuation circuit right after the high pass section of the subwoofer crossover and before the filtering section of the satellites built-in 2way crossover. I've read that attentuation should take place after the crossover section right before the driver. Is it safe to do this? What power rating do I need for the resistors?THese satellites are rated 25W rms/50W max.

So . . . you're NOT using a plate amp on the sub, then?

@Chris....No plate ampl or bi-amp setup. Just a traditional stereo amplifier for passive use.

Check where the corner freq for the bass control is, usually right around there, so I'd attenuate there if possible by boosting bass tone control rather than inserting more XO components.
