Default Wireless Polk Audio PSWi-8M on sale 79.99

What is the downside to using a wireless sub? I read somewhere that wireless audio transmission causes some loss in fidelity...But on the flip side, you can place these subs anywhere in the room and not have to worry about running wires to it.

I've tried wireless headphones before. I could hear the treble break up. Wireless = radio.

I guess it's good for people who live in an apartment, can't run wires, drill holes, etc. I'd personally never choose it for myself.

not all wireless systems are 900MHz analog FM. Many are VSB digital, similar to HD radio.

Description says 2.4ghz... nothing about being digital or analog though. Taxes and shipping makes this about 93... still not a bad deal but I can't justify another speaker purchase.

Looks like the wireless receiver is separate, so you can always hook it up to another (better) sub. You can call Polk or go to their website to see whether it's analog or digital. Might be similar to baby monitors (and possibly interfere with them).

Still have to plug them into the wall, so still wired.

I don't see wireless for this application as any benefit at all. It is not hard to run a cable along the baseboards for subwoofer and rear speakers. The AC cord is a bigger concern since older houses have less AC outlets so you may be limited for location there without using an extension cord.
