Default Experience working with KEF B139??

    Hello,

(I don´t know how many times I´ve done this-asking you for advice in new projects-Hope I´m contributing some in return from time to time)

Now, I´m planning to get my next-next speaker project from ambition to plans, and that is a full-KEF 3-way (B139/B110/T27). The reason for my posting today is that the "missing link", a nice pair of B139 is on sale at swedish Ebay this night.

There is quite a lot of technical info on the drivers and systems on the web but not much about the SQ and other "soft" qualities of the B139 and the proper way to work with them.

My humble question is if you older (!) and wiser (!!) people has any advice to share
    •Should I walk away from KEF B139?
    •Is CB or VB preferred?
    •XO-design? Difficult?
    •How does it sound?

    Best regards//lasse

PS The RFL-MGC project moves-components on the way for volume control and fans. DS

    Hi all,

The auction on Ebay ends in 2,5 hours.

    Should I get the B139´s?

    Best regards//lasse

    Hi,

    Ah, what the hec............

I didn´t win the drivers. They went for abt the same amount of swedish currecy they cost as brand new in the 70íes.

Perhaps, sometimes things turn out best as they just happen...

I built B139/B110/T27 KEF 3-ways during 1978 from plans published in some British Hi-Fi magazine. They performed well but I remember that they were a bit headroom limited compared to today's good drivers.

If I had to use those drivers today, I might consider doing a 3.5-way but the enclosures would be huge.

    Hi all,

    I got a pair of B200´s on swedish Ebay (i. s. o. B139´s)

My plan is to use them together with the B110 and T27 and try the way to mount the mid described in this thread..

    Bad idea?
