Np if you had, I'd have a reason to stay up all night, as tired as I am, and as much crap as I need to get done tomorrow, lol.

Re: Klipsch THX Ultra2 main bootleg
Missed a couple pages here.
The reason I got so interested in this design is because of the story behind it. I have this laptop that I got a while back, and I wanted speakers for my background so I just googled and ended up with the Ultra 2 system as my background for a long time. By luck I came across two of the woofers, and a few days later, the horn was DOTD. Obviously I couldn't pass it up once I realized what it was, and the idea of "bootlegging" of $3k pair of speakers (worth that or not) kinda gets me off I just want to make a replica, I understand there are other builds out there. I've taken a few looks at econowaves before, but this project really came to me. And I'm really glad there's been so much interest in it, we all have our reasons.
I haven't made ANY progress on these, honestly I don't even want to start until I have all the drivers, and I've been extremely busy, so any time I have is going toward my IRON project (almost done!). I'm also really broke, but I plan on getting everything I need pretty soon. I thought we had figured out the LPF already??

17" wide, 15" Tall, 12.5" deep enclosure 3/4" walls all around gives about 37.7 liters, so I figured with the horn, crossover and woofers, you'll net about 34.7 Liters.
You'll notice the woofers are powered up to 105dB. The sealed version would break Xmax around 61Hz, the ported version around 36Hz, but can go up to 62W total for a max SPL of about 107.5dB
The port I used was a 6" wide (the horn is 6" wide and in the picture they're about the same width) by 1.25" tall, tuned to 42.5Hz gives a F3 of 48Hz as per Klipsch' design and yields a 5-9/6" long port. The port was modeled with 1 flared end, becuase the Klipsch speaker has a flat baffle-side port and at least 1 side should be flared, IMO.
Also note that there is a bump of about 0.72dB, and that "Heavy Fill" was selected to make that bump smaller. With "No Fill" selected, that bump becomes 2.31dB, also resulting in different tuning and a slightly lower F3 and lowering the power handling.
I'll get started on the actual simming part later.
Great to see this thread! I just got the horn (I've had the drivers for a while), and it's bigger than 6" wide. I measure it at just under 6 5/8" wide by 9 3/4" tall not including the part that gets recessed. I haven't messed around with Unibox much, so I don't know how it would change the port if you widen it to match the horn. I don't know if it matters but by inference the Klipsch port is about 6 5/8" by 1 3/8". Does that seem doable?
Thanks for the work so far. I'm working on a sketchup model of the box (same dimensions as yours) and using Illustrator to measure where the cutouts should be. I got the idea from DIYNut42 (good idea btw), but for me at least, Illustrator is a little easier to use for measuring. I'll see if I can post the drawings in a bit if anybody's interested.

Re: Klipsch THX Ultra2 main bootleg
If you made the port 6.625" x 1.375" the port would extend to 7" long and would cause a bit of a port resonance @ 770Hz, a 2dB dip and would lower the port air speed, but it was well away from chuffing in the first place.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. When I sized that JPG to scale to get placement measurements, I just used Sketchup. Probably not quite as accurate as Illustrator, but I figured it would be close. Some times I miss working with CAD...

I've already run the woofer through RM, but eh... for the sake of being correct, I'll do it again, I suppose

I read your deadhorse thread earlier, and be careful not to bump any of your new tats. Might hurt like a b***h if you hit it just right.

Re: Klipsch THX Ultra2 main bootleg

My measurements are almost the same as DIYNut42's. They're so close, it makes me wonder why I bothered doing them at all. I'll post them anyway to serve as a guide for the sketchup model.
On the model I've changed the port dimensions to reflect greywarden's dimensions, but I've left the guide lines for the larger port for the sake of *accuracy. I think I actually prefer the smaller port aesthetically.

Haha, yeah the one on my back was tender the next day, about 2-3 days after it was fine.

Yeah I don't think the woofers being off my 0.125" is going to make a difference in the sim anyway. Well now I'm just waiting on the horn FRD

I'll try to get that one to work, but the spaces needed to be tabs, I think that's the major issue.
Here ya go. Not sure why you needed me to do it as you needed only to import the original and re-export it....

Ok so I kind of guesstimated the horns actual sesitivity since Holm's numbers are relative... But I have a 7zip file with CSPs and FRD/ZMAs ready to go, I'm getting started PM me your email if you want the file. 7zip is a free program, btw.

Here's a few minutes worth of work...
-The FR is lumpy
-Phase is crap
-Power response is meh
-The imp phase drops below -60*
but
-The FR is +/-2.5dB
-The phase meets at the xover

Re: Klipsch THX Ultra2 main bootleg
Lol that looks MUCH better than the crap I came up with. Granted I was playing with a program I had no business in at the time...
PE claims a 99dB sensitivity on that tweet @ 1w/1m, buuuuuut that doesn't mean it's the case.
I will PM you my email for those files. That way I will have them handy for when I get around to getting my hands on a suite with Excel thats all there, and in case I ever decide to try to do a TMM with these some day when I'm better set up for it.

Re: Klipsch THX Ultra2 main bootleg
Yeah PE said response from 4k to 20k say, so 12k is the middle of that, and I added enough to get 12k up to 99dB... if both of the drivers were measured at th same time, it would tell us exactly what we needed, gods help Sidi's sanity, that thing must be hella loud haha

Re: Klipsch THX Ultra2 main bootleg
my guess is it's 99@ the highest horn gain point, not at 15-20k. I have no idea though. I can borrow the calibrated SPL meter from work over the weekend if it will help you guys out.

I think I'm going to make a 'clone' using the MCM 5" aluminum drivers and this horn. I need some more dynamic rear speakers for my HT. I'll let you know when I start (for those who missed out on the woofer buyout)

Me and Ryan (DIYnut42) are working out a crossover. We had a bit of a file mix up and some wrong parts ordered, but we're on the same page now.
