Would their be any benefit or would it even be worth the hassle to use say a parrallel network between the woofer and mid and a series between the mid and tweet? Is this even possible? How could I actually model it? What would it do to the phase?

It's definitely possible. You'd have to model it in 2 sections in PCD. Do the SXO portion for the MT first, and save and export the system zma and frd files. Then use those as the 'tweeter' in the next sim with the woofer of your choice. Depending on the phase of the one section, just blend it with the woofer's. It's really nothing to fret about.

If you don't require notches or other things, a SXO can allow smaller value coils, and not large caps since you're not HPing a mid within it.

For practical purposes on a 1 off DIY, I can't conger up any reason to bother unless you are competing in a price class or something and trying to cut every penny possible.

For mass production. Taking the time to come up with a way to reduce the component values and cost like that translates to better profit margins. It's common practice in mass produced speakers to use creative ways to reduce crossover costs while maintaining function. For example, carefully placed padding in the high pass circuit can cut component values in that circuit.

I happen to be doing just that, but I'm going SXO because it's the Acoustic Reality style serial XO between the mid and tweeter. Then a standard parallel between the woofers and mid/tweeter. No major reason other than it sounds pretty good and wanting to venture off the beaten path a bit...

I'm playing around with it and so far I like what I'm seeing. But it may require a notch filter on the mid as this driver is actually intended to be used as a wide-ranger. It may have an issue on the upper end that may cause a problem. Off the beaten path is pretty much the way of this build/design. Biggest project I have under taken by far and I thank you all for the responses.

Hopefully, these won't have to be a "one-off". All drivers and components are available or will be soon.

Don't listen to the naysayers- you can notch in an SXO. If you read my primer on the SXO in Tips Vol 3B, that will help conceptualize the layout and workings.
