    Default leg height in a downfiring sub?

    what is a good height for the legs? i have 1.25 inch uncompressed carpet and was wondering if six inches was to much or not enough? does it matter driver to driver? thanks in advance for all answers

    It does. The space between the driver and floor becomes a front chamber, which can be tuned for a desired result. If you have enough skill with box modeling you can get a close estimate, otherwise experiment with it.

    since i can't ever seem to figure out those programs, is there a maximum ht i should start with and work down

    I known folks to be successful using 1/2 to 1/3 the radius of the driver. The carpet won't matter at subwoofer frequencies.

    But it might help with damping out of band resonances, up in the low pass stop band.
