Re: 6th Annual Central KY DIY
Fellas,
It appears as I will be bowing out for this weekend. Have too much to get done around the house.. as well as being down on the hobby as a whole, at the moment. Active system I'm working on just keeps having problem after problem.. I need a break!

Ed, I will take some plywood off your hands. Half-sized rips are fine. Put me down for two (four pieces).

The offer is certainly appreciated. I actually know what is wrong with the amps.. one is just a matter of installing a new relay, of which I have, the other is a cold solder joint or something along that lines..will be a booger to track down due to it being so intermittent. I am back and forth with minidsp on its issues, the biggest of which is a crackling noise that develops from time to time that is remedied with a power down/up cycle.. but who wants to have to do that in the middle of a listening session!!? So.... until the mini is corrected, the other stuff is almost irrelevant. Again.. thank you for the offer to help!

What kind of amps? I have a spare MiniDSP if you need to borrow one.
EDIT: Nevermind - Carver. Easy peasy. I have parts.

It also sounds like Bwaslo is coming. Maybe Indianajo from diyAudio will be in attendance. So, maybe 20.
Wahoo! I just visited Bill over the weekend to listen to his CoSynes. Nice guy, great cats and good music. I wrote a review here: http://www.diysoundgroup.com/forum/i...sg1177#msg1177
By the way, I am bringing a Threshold S/200 if you need a reference amp.

Re: 6th Annual Central KY DIY
Ed, Aaron,
Sorry, doesn't look like I'll be able to make it this year. Sciatica is acting up pretty badly, the 20 min drive from work this week has been awful. I can't imagine doing a long drive this weekend. Hopefully I can make it next year, assuming I can get back to doing the PT Im supposed to do...

Sorry to hear Bill, you will be missed. I have to deal with that too so I certainly understand the significance of a long drive. Hope you feel better.

Re: 6th Annual Central KY DIY
Rory likes to cart around that marvelous ML38, so I bet that'll be the preamp. I also bet his Marantz will be present for CD's.
I've received word of someone bringing some high-end amps for comparo.
I'm also betting Matt will bring his Crown ComTech 400 along for the ride.
That's all I know- I know we've used a Pioneer receiver in the past. That was a COLD year...
...please bring your space-heaters to power our sound!

Re: 6th Annual Central KY DIY
Wolf I promise there is heat. Rory is bringing his front end. I believe there will be other amps and I have an HT receiver if needed.

Re: 6th Annual Central KY DIY
That was an attempt at humor toward past events, Tom. I know there is heat at the Senior Center.
Chuck-
How would Mike feel about not having his prized amp for a couple days? I think that would make me sad if I couldn't enjoy it and it was mine.
Heh,

Bring it. I also want to bring a 'High end' power cord and let's see if any one can tell it apart from stock cord if people are up to a few minutes of fooling around.
Could also use my computer with the EMU 1212M Mastering card. I have two sessions states already setup: One for balanced and another for unbalanced output to amps. So it will drive any amp properly with a click of the mouse.
The EMU sounds great.
