I have several of the P17wj, and a couple of the P17SJ's....and none of them have an inverted surround profile.....methinks you are thinking of the P17 series offered way back when from SEAS....they liked to use the inverted surround profiles.
Still, this driver looks good, and if the FR is to be believed, should offer a nice smooth sound in it's working band.

There may be more to come as well.
Excellent news.

Very OT: Link to some interesting commentary on PLAN's (China's Navy) new game changing ASBM, and indications of neo-Mahanian influence in their strategy.

My understandung is that ScanSpeak has purchased the manufacturing tooling from Vifa and Peerless Denmark. So, realy what we should see is Peerless and Vifa with ScanSpeak labels.

Compare the specs listed on the page with the PDF.

One lists impedance at 8 Ohm, with the other at 4 Ohm.

OK that looks pretty cool. Looks like there's a 4 and 8 ohm version, or at least the pdf and html specs are different. Here's for hoping that the 4 ohm 90dB one exists...

hey! I was trying to offer an explanation of why, why, why..

echo, echo, echo..

The question is, should I match this up with a neo tweeter only, er, a silk/paper neo tweeter...

That would make an awesome filler driver for the desired TP approach.

I think you might get away with a neo CERAMIC dome tweeter to match the fiberglass cone.
