  • Custom designed KEF Uni-Q speakers

For sale are three, L/R/C custom speakers using KEF Q100 Uni-Q drivers. Soundfield Audio designed and built them for me. They are passive versions of Soundfield Audio’s SAM-1—so they do not use active, powered subwoofers. Here is some info on the SAM-1’s which they are based on:

Why build custom KEF speakers instead of just buying the KEF Q series? I wanted these speakers to be 3-way designs (the Q-series are 2.5 way designs) where the Uni-Q could cross over to an 8” woofer (in the case of the monitors) or dual 6” woofers (in the case of the center speaker.) This allows the Uni-Q to operate within a range where it’s excursion is greatly reduced, thereby greatly increasing its performance. That is how the more expensive KEF R-series was designed. I refer to these as my “poor-man’s R-series” speakers.

Total cost to build was $1,825 for all three. I am selling them at 50% cost-- $300 each. I have the grills as well.

Happy to demo. Would prefer local pickup in NJ. I have the PE boxes and would split shipping.

    Thanks for looking.

This convinced to finally sign up and My GOD!! They look SO amazing!! I would buy them without any hesitation if I could afford them. 300 per speaker isn't the problem for me. The problem is shipping!! It'll probably cost a 1000 in shipping cost to buy all of them if not more ! Do you mind giving me their estimated shipping dimension for the left and right channel please?

Left and Right boxes are 19" by 15" by 22" and the center speaker box is 18" by 13" by 25". The left and right speakers weigh about 32 lbs and the center should be similar, maybe a couple pounds more due to the extra driver. I don't want to break up the set, only selling all three together. Thanks!

What are the woofers? Do you have grills? At what frequency are you crossing the mid/woofer?

I don’t remember which woofers were used. I left all design decisions up to AJ from Soundfield Audio. Same goes for crossover, etc. I do have the grills that came with the PE cabinets used for these speakers. Thanks Dan Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
