  • WTB: Motherboard for 755 socket intel CPU

Any one here want to sell me a motherboard?
Any one wondering why I am asking here to buy one?
Two reasons: you guys typically have good prices and are also generally trustworthy.
I don't want to buy a broken or semi-broken motherboard like I already did on craigslist.

What about the CPU and memory? Don't need those, too?

      I don't think so.
Also I forgot to mention it's a quad core Q6600 chip.

I've got a couple 775 mobo's don't recall exact models. Does it need any specific features? I do know they are m-atx. I will look later today. I am pretty sure they both use ddr3 RAM.

I might have some DDR3 memory I can give my friend, but I don't think so, but I can get some.
He has an IDE hard drive and Q6600 CPU, but I think that's about the only requirements he needs.
I don't really know if it's the PS or motherboard he needs. It won't turns on sometimes.

Sorry I never got back to you. :( I have excuses but that doesn't help you. I have an MSI-7528 motherboard if interested. $30 shipped to your door.

Although I wonder when you say it won't turn on sometime. Do any lights come on? Does it show the POST screen? Any beeps? Do you have a multimeter where you can measure the voltages? IMO, power supplies are more susceptible to failure than motherboards...usually. Popped caps in a power supply can exhibit the symptom you describe, but it is hard to know. You could always pop the cover off the PS and look for bulging caps, before you decide. It could also be a dead bios battery, also easy to diagnose if you have a multimeter.

                Thanks for the advice.
I was told it was probably the PS before.
It does turn on, but does not boot up (nothing comes on the screen with the video card or on-motherboard video connector). But I think the lights on the motherboard come on.
Also it does not like to turn on when the computer is cold, only when it's hot it turns on the first time you press the power button. Otherwise you have to keep pressing it and it can take a lot of pressing.
Does that mean it's more likely to be the PS or motherboard?

I have seen it all 3 ways, but I don't have enough sampling to really give you a true answer. How old is the computer? I myself had a computer that specifically did this, and I eventually figured out the 3V bios battery was failing. It doesn't shut down or freeze if it is on does it? Freezing or shutting down on it's own might indicate failing caps on either the motherboard or power supply. During boot though, there is a lot of stress on the power supply as everything turns on at once, but usually you would see other symptoms while it is running (freezing/random restarts).
