My son does not care about the Crown. I was trying to find out what it would take to be able to play his guitar thru the Crown.

He bought a 20 watt tube amp. Orange something? Just trying to see what it would take to do it.

Why don't you take all three of your practice amps that you have already replaced the blown speakers-in and give them all to your son?

Well, you already know what works and what doesn't at this point, then.
Just share your successes with us, OK?
We love a happy ending, man.

Yes I can but I already have 3 practice amps. A Peavey, Crate and Laney. I changed blown speakers in them.

Howard - can you afford this? --> https://www.parts-express.com/FootNo...r-Supp-249-404

Not really. The EQ section of a guitar amp is totally different from that of a PA mixer. What would work is a guitar amp simulator, either a rack mount or pedal. Make sure it has a line level XLR output.

For what you'll spend getting a suitable pre-amp and speaker you can find a used, perhaps even new, combo guitar amp. What's his skill level and experience? Not everyone needs a Vox AC30 or Fender Twin. Trying to use your Crown because you have it on hand may not be the best option.
