HAve you considered push pull slot load yet? Lots of advantages for a little more volume and complexity.

    Thanks for the compliments.
We (mainly my dad) are experience cabinet makers/wood workers... (and metal)

If anyone is interested in the 4x8 layouts shoot me a msg.
Takes about 3.5 sheets for 2 boxes

Havent had them down the "tough" road yet as it is brand new and have been delicate with them. They are however double coated in DuraTex. Id guess it will be a couple years before I start seeing any real signs of abuse (wrt to the wood). The grills are 18ga mill finish 304 Stainless Steel.

Sorry about that. I misspoke about my own boxes. They are made with Sandeply (made by Endesa), NOT Arucaply.

Nice clean build. I liked the use of pocket screws.

There is no damage caused to woofers by amplifier clipping, nor do drivers require a minimum drive voltage to 'bring them to life'. They just won't play as loudly as they would when driven to full excursion.

Amplifier clipping will not hurt a subwoofer, if excessive average power and/or repeated overexcursion are not applied. They are underpowered, but that means the amps could be upgraded later without redoing everything. Or leave the low powered ones in when you've got some DJ who like to turn it up to 11.

The Kilomax's aren't that good a driver. The Defini's are better, as are equally priced B&C, RCF, etc.

Given the amplifier power available I question the use of that many fancy and expensive "difini" drivers. There's going to be a lot left on the table with that much invested in drivers and not enough clean power to bring them to "life." I realise that the drivers will run out of Xmax at probably half their thermal rating in a typical box, but that doesn't distract me from the real world implications of damage caused by amplifier clipping. For 8x difini/kilomax type drivers, I would want 10,000W RMS of clean power on tap.

I suspect that the drivers that are there could be re-boxed to produce a more desirable result. I also think that for the same price, the kilomax looks better on paper than the difinimax. (More Xmax and thermal headroom). There may be something there that I am not seeing from the "on paper" approach but that's just my gut feeling here. Regardless of that opinion, I think there are a handful of drivers at about half the cost that are more appropriate for the level of amplification available.

Yes yes, I appreciate your concern and thoroughness here but I'm far from a newb. I'll actually even one up it and break in a couple of the woofers and put them on my woofer tester to arrive at a more accurate model...
