Schematic for guitar pre-amp

I would like to build a small pre-amp for a guitar, nothing fancy, no tubes please, just a basic 'up the output' pre-amp so I could then run to an amp. Bass and treble control might be nice, but not necessary. Anyone have plans for such an animal? The searches I have done always end up with something way more complex then I want or need.

If you like distortion and sustain, BSIAB2 makes a real nice preamp (it makes a nice one regardless, but no point in building something that complicated if you aren't going to use the distortion), but to answer your request, here's a few ideas:

The ESP P27 preamp section is capable of some distortion, but is mostly clean depending on how you set it up.
