Looking around EBay at some Peavey amp at a good price (so I think) I have never used a pro amp .is a CS-800 a good amp ? I'm not a DJ it's for I'm use only and looking for 2 good used amp 1 will be to power two 1*12 and 1 for a 18 sub ???
The PV CS800 was the defacto bar band standard in the '70s and 80s, the DDT clip limiting system works very well at keeping things clean when the amp is overdriven. There are several different versions of this amp with the early versions in a 4U chassis and later versions in 3U or 2U chassis. The 3U versions are gonna be your best value.. more likely to get something that won't immediately need a rebuild, the older 4U versions are all 30+ years old now so the caps are most certainly done.
The CS-800 has a reputation of getting DC offset at the output. I blew several speakers due to this until I realized where to look. I was advised of this problem when I took the amp in to the repair shop. It was the older model with the 4U chassis.
I just purchased 4 cs400s 3 space version for 350 from a guy in Texas. They sound great. He has 60 more. I'm planning on getting a few more. I think he has some 800s also.
