  • Hey, BFM

    Hi Bill,

Something that caught my eye on the Pioneer website.

    http://pioneerproaudio.com/en/produc.../wav_horn.html

Looks like they took a huge bass horn and just cut it in two. That front section is WAY heavy!

    Your thoughts?

Their passive 12" touring speaker (XY Series) is 50lbs. also.
Funny they did not put out a powered box and this looks like a bad idea.

It is, similar in function to the VPlate coupling we use with Tubas and Titans, but not nearly as easy to employ or cart about.
and this looks like a bad idea.
Really bad, you'd think they'd know about comb filtering.
You can make a real multi-element omni-directional speaker if the CTC is kept less than 1 wavelength, but that takes really small tweeters and a whole lot of them.

From what I have read on other forums the system won't even be on the market. Appears to be a rebrand

Maybe, maybe not, but Pioneer has never had a major presence in the US pro-sound market anyway.

I don't know, since they don't do business in the US I've never paid much attention to them.

The multiplate diffusor is a JBL design from days long past. It does the job but at a cost.
