    Re: Duratex

I plan on putting it to good use. First cab is a big 54x20x13 subwoofer that'll be covered in the stuff, and couple smaller projects after that, so I didn't think the sample pack was going to cut it.

The sample pak goes a looooooog way.

They list is as being enough for 2 coats on a pair of 18" x 12" x 12" cabs, which I didn't think was enough for my use.

One more question about Duratex. I just ordered a gallon of roll-on for some PA subs. Has anyone applied it on painted metal, like lifting handles, stacking corners and connector cups? Does it adhere well, or do I have to take off all my hardware before I paint?

            Remove the hardware.

It sticks to almost anything but it "bonds" to wood. Don't expect it to be nearly as durable on anything other than wood.

Thanks for the explanation. I was going to follow Bill's advise anyway, but now I know why.

That's not the only reason. If you put it on over the hardware you may never get that hardware off if you need to. Also be sure to sun cure the cab for at least a day after coating it before putting the hardware on.
