Can you link to the RDL that you used? I have half a mind to add a sub to my pool/deck area, which is using two zones on a receiver for running four speakers.

The mono pre-amp sub out of the receiver is tied to the main volume of the 100W/channel output of the receiver. The receiver main powered output drive the ceiling speakers. The sub out is the 'background music source' in the example attached. Sub out goes to the RDL and then to 'bump box' to convert -10 to +4 db level the Crown xti sub amp wants. This is pretty much a conventional setup so far. Sub out goes to dedicated sub amp and the RDL in the middle is not really doing much of anything.

When zone 2 is selected (which is the fence speakers), the signal goes from the receiver's pre-amp zone 2 outputs to a 'bump box' to go from -10 to +4 level the second crown xti amp needs to drive the fence speakers. The Crown XTI amps have XLR in and XLR 'link' output. I take the Crown's left XLR link out and use the other end of the bump box to go from +4 to -10. This signal now goes to the RDL as 'juke box' in the attached example. If zone 2 is selected, the RDL sends zone 2 left channel to the sub 'bump box' to go back to +4 level and power the sub amp. Since each bump box can do 2 channels of -10 to +4 AND +4 to -10 and each channel has its own volume control, proper balancing was obtained. I won't lie, it took a while, but now regardless if ceiling or fence speakers are chosen, the sub level is correct.
