  • Port velocity

I'm trying to figure out the number and size for a 2/18 box 14.5 cuft tune to 32 hz. using winisd is giving me 1.98 m/s .three # 4in port .I know that is wrong .I believe this is at 1v not at max ? The driver I'm using is the Dayton pa465 http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-...--295-042.will appreciate any help.

    Re: Port velocity

You need to use WinIsd Pro.

Rear port air velocity should be 17m/s or less.
Also you have to input the desired power level, apply an appropriate low cut filter(LR24 at 27hz), and monitor excursion to make sure it doesn't go over xmax. If port velocity gets too high increase port size, a slot vent will be a more manageable than individual ports. It may also be easier to design a box for 1 driver and then just double everything for a dual cab.

Thank you Paul ,I took your advice and sim it as one 18 also changed from round ports to a slot .reset winisd to max power ,port velocity is down from 105 m/s to a peak of 24 m/s.

        Re: Port velocity

Why not just go with a pair of 6"id port tubes, each one 6" long?

Thank you for your suggestion Chris but I sim it using one 18 and used a slot port .
