I'm in need of a little advice. Looking at building a pair of PA subs. The space is approx 30'w and 60'L about 12'h. Average audience size of maybe 200. Not concert levels and not looking to go nuts. Probably a pair of 15s. The kicker: I really need the enclosures to be mounted up high, on the wall or at the ceiling. The mains are done basically and will cross at about 80-100hz. No amp yet for subs, mains will have about 300w.

I am open to whatever design will work. I know its not the best placement, but multiple uses of the room dictate the location.

That's no real concern, as wall mounted you still get half-space loading, while at the joint of the wall and ceiling you get quarter-space loading. What should be avoided is free-space flying of subs. That's only a viable option in concert venues where they don't want to lose floor space for seats at $150+ each and the sound company has enough gear that they don't need space loading. With a room only 30 feet wide whatever you make will work best at the ceiling joint center clustered.

The Dance Instruction/Performance room ( @ the Arts school I work w ) is slightly smaller and has held that many at times
Many years ago we "flew" EV 18's in the upper corners.
      Has worked flawlessly since.
      ( Personally I'd recommend stout 18's )

Thanks Bill. That is what I was thinking. Just wanted to back up my notions. Little out of my element with this one. I am considering a T48 or 60. The size of the 60 will make it easy to integrate actually.

Don't use T60 unless you actually need 28Hz response, which very few users do. T45 has the same form, but is smaller, and goes as low as most users need.

Okay. I will look into that. It will save some money any way.

Bill on your t45, would you suggest the single or dual 12 version? For reference, there will be 4 8"MTMs up front with a sensitivity of about 92db and a lower cutoff of 100Hz. Power to mains of about 300w/ch. Sub amp still up in the air.

Build a 1x12, add a second if required.
