Re: I have some newbie questions about Behringer Inuke NU1000DSP
Nice, I just placed the order for the following items:
1) a pair of JBL GTO1214 12" subwoofers
2) four 4 pole male speakon connectors
3) two 4 pole flush mount female speakon jacks
4) two 1/4" TS male to RCA female adapters
5) one RCA splitter
6) one 6' stereo RCA cable
7) one Behringer iNuke NU1000DSP amplifier plus one Samson Meteor microphone (order placed yesterday)
Now I just need to build the cabinets. My intentions are to build a pair of 22"W x 22"D x 36"H cabinets with two internal braces and held together with dowels, screws, glue and sealed with caulk. I plan to round all of the edges later with a router. They will be tuned to 20 Hz with a 4" in diameter flared port at both ends. The cabinets will have a net volume of about 7.8 cu ft after finished. I plan to paint them glossy black and I'll try to add some silver metallic patterns. Also a metallic silver decorative grill for the sub and port. If I can't find them already made I guess I can build them myself. I have spent around $400 so far in the project and if I can keep the cost of the cabinets at around $100 the total cost of the project will be around $500. That will be about $250 per subwoofer. That will beat the SVS SB-1000 being two subs vs one for the same cost. Not bad for my first DIY project!
According to WinISD the subs will have a fairly flat response down to 20 Hz with no equalization with a F3 of 17 Hz. I can always use the parametric EQ to calibrate everything. To keep excursion at acceptable levels I won't be able to feed them more that 150 watts which is below the rated power of the amp. The highest excursion point will be at 30 Hz at which excursion will be at 12.7mm. I think that the subs will do pretty well on those cabinets and with that amp.
I would like you to share your thoughts about the project and if you have any suggestions for the cabinets I'm all ears!
