I'll have to check and see if mine does I guess. The crown can only go as low as 50hz for a high pass. Do you think that would be too high? I believe the low note on a drop d 4 string is somewhere in that range if I remember correctly.

But, your Sans Amp and Crown does sound very interesting! I'd be curious as to what that sounds like.
Carvin's instruments are very nice. I have yet to find a guitar in it's price range that is as nice (at least as far as mass produced guitars and of course IMO).

As for the psa 1.1 it is a really versatile pre. Clean or as dirty as you want. My only complaint is the way it works. It would be nice to have a mode that uses knob positions like a regular pre. As it is you have to turn a knob to get it to start functioning. Lets say you have the gain cranked but you select a clean preset with much less gain and you barely bump the gain knob. The gain then will jump to where the gain knob is set. You can bypass the knobs though so your preset doesn't change or just make sure and move all the knobs where you want them which bypasses the presets. My explanation is probably lacking but it isn't that big of a deal, more of a annoyance.

lol! I was searching about the high pass issue and found a thread on the exact same question. What makes that funny you might ask? It was a thread I started :o

One thing it didn't answer though was where the highpass should be set.

I emailed tech21 to see if the psa 1.1 has a highpass filter and it does but it is set at 16hz :( Not sure what slope but it is obviously a subsonic filter and not high enough to protect a bass cab. Good to know for the future possibly.

Also I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the crown xls1500 :D If this doesn't work out I can always find another use for it.

Re: Looking for new bass cab.

Received the crown today Very impressive. I also tried the highpass at 50hz and didn't notice any lacking bottom end :applause: I haven't had a chance to try it on my main cab and my current cab really needs a mid (15in with lacking upper end ) so I can't comment on sound yet. I can tell already though that the crown has a ton more output than my ampeg b2r (350w at 4 ohm) even though I wasn't playing too loud.

I also found a source for some deltalite II that are buyouts of genz benz. Says they are custom and the specs are different but I believe the only difference is that they are 16ohm instead of 8ohm. 157$ a pair, just a little bit over the price of one of the 8ohmers.

Re: Looking for new bass cab.

Decided to build a fearless 1212/6. Kind of pricey :( but it should fit my needs. The kappalite 3012lf are kind of expensive since the neo price jump but the way I see it one kappalite will move about twice the air as a deltalite 2 and work in a smaller box. A 212 with kappalites is basically the equivalent of a 4x10 with with deltalite 2s  That should be enough output  Also it should only be around 70lbs

I wouldn't use a pair of 3012LF. Their main advantage is that they have so much displacement that one is sufficient. If I was to use a pair of twelves it would be 2012s. I only use one and for my R&B gig it's enough, though being horn loaded in my cab that makes a major difference. In a direct radiator I'd probably use a pair.

In the above statement are you referring to the s2012 or kappalite ? Also how does a s2012 or deltalite2 compare to a typical drivers in mid priced bass cabs?

S2012. Both are better than your typical mid price bass cabs, which tend to be loaded with the equivalent of Beta or Delta 12s. There are exceptions, of course. But your average Fender/Peavey/Ampeg etc tend to use fairly inexpensive OEMs unless they're neos. In that case they're usually 2012 or 2512 variants.

Re: Looking for new bass cab.

Thanks Bill. You confirmed my suspicions.

Also I have decided to build two of the fearless 12/6 for a couple reasons. First and foremost portability. Second I may only need one for practice and the other one will stay at home. Third it will probably pull double duty as a guitar cab and I could see where running two channels could be cool for effects :D

This actually only costs about 60$ more than a single 1212/6 cab and is even easier to transport.
