  • Pro & Home electronics integration

I've recently combined the preamp section of my Soundcraft mixer & my Mc 275 tube amp into my vintage Altec large horn speakers. I like having the ability to add effects in a large listening room which in my opinion sounds more like a live event. I have run sound for many live events also.
I am asking for advice on which brand of pro mixer to purchase to get the best preamp & effects sections on the market. I only need a few input channels to reach my goals (8 to 12). I also prefer to mainly use digital input sources. Suggestions with brief justification please.

The thing that may pose a problem is that mix boards I'm familiar with only have a limited number of RCA based ( line level ) inputs. The majority of channels are for microphone signals.

Really? Or is that just the best at a certain price point?

Not an unlimited $ but would be willing to spend considerable $ for a small mixer with a superior preamp section. I have invested thousands through the years and am passionate about how well lossless sound is reproduced at home. I'm 67 and spend considerable time enjoying well reproduced music. Thanks for your input.

You might want to just get a dedicated preamp, such as a DBX unit.
