  • How hard to recone?

    Was thinking of picking up (purchase) some JBL 2241H's that are not presently working and trying to recone them.
    Never reconed before but seen some Youtube on it.
    How hard is it really?
    What are some of the concerns about this?
    Anyone with experience with Reconing this speaker?
    Thanks.

    It's easy, and there are video tutorials. The only special tool you need is a turntable, which is easy enough to make. But you do want to use OEM parts, not generics.

      I started by trying my skills on a few very cheap drivers first and found that it helped me get the process down. But really its not too hard.

          Not done a recone on that JBL;
          Biggest chore on others was removal of old adhesive to clean surface.
          Plastic shims ( often provided with a kit ) are necessary to insure the cone assessment is centered in magnet gap.
