  • My Dayton 6' Rs towers..

I've been building lots of speakers these last few years, never really tried any of the dayton audio drivers. Did tons of reading and research "even" listened to a friends pair of speakers using a 8" dayton. Then wham I was addicted.

So I did a big order.

    8 x RS180-8 7" Woofer's
    4 x RS100-8 4" Mid-Woofers
    2 x RS28A-4 1" Dome tweeter.

    To be safe, I ordered 2 x
RS125-8 5" mid woofers, just in case the 4" can't keep up or go along with the rest of the design.

Photo of the tower standing up with all the drivers. This is a test box only. Just to start measuring the drivers, then start on crossover design.

      Are you doing a 3-way or 3.5?

A paralleled pair of 8ohm RS180s will have the same sensitivity as a quad (but require only half the box volume). In a typical 3-way, SOME BSC still has to be covered by the mids - so the MTM could be the way to go.

If you use the RS125 you could get X-overs from jed at clearwave. That is what I am running at the moment.

Just doing the painting today :P Baffles were done on a CNC by Ryan Bouma, he did an awesome job ! very happy with the results. Crossover parts have to be ordered but i will do that when the boxes are all together, painted and in my room. I think i have a bit of tweaking to do on the x-overs still.

Just doing some sealing on parts of the boxes before they get sent off to get painted :P

Picture of my messy Garage !

sealing a pair of small boxes for a speaker project, and the other pieces are the spacers that go between the box and Base of the speakers.

These are really starting to look good. Can't wait to see the finished product.
