Squamton eh? That's really nice. Spend most of my summers trying to climb up rocks and biking down hills round there :p

      Hey Wolf ,

I have a very faint hissing sound when I play a 1kHz test tone coming from the ribbons. It's the exact same from both speakers, so could rule out the connections on the xo. Have you experienced this at all?

The xover of the AMT is at 3.4k, so it should be well attenuated by then in the AMT. I guess I don't know of this actually being a problem, or that it would even need resolved. Why would you play a 1kHz tone anyway?

I played a variety of frequencies to try pick out why there is a slight dip in volume at +75 db and both high and low freq extensions of a song kick (I hope I explained that clearly, otherwise I can try again ). I have a feeling it is the amplifier or power supply. It was during this test that I noticed the slight hissing from the AMT's at 1kHz. I agree with you, shouldn't be anything there at 1kHz based on the xover design.

Hey Wolf, don't mean to bring up a super old topic. The amplifier I have been using just isn't making the cut anymore. What would be your recommendation for a good A/B or even a D Class amplifier to drive these towers? I'm open to kits and would prefer getting to build it. I have a background in electronics somewhere in the cobwebs.

I use Crown Drivecore 1500, but others love the Ncore and ClassD Audio stuff. I hear Pascal and ICEpower are good too.
Hope they are still sounding great!

Interesting, would have taken you for a more A/B kinda guy. That Crown Drivecore is awesome bang for buck. I've seen a few in commercial settings.

Speakers are doing well. Yet to finish the exterior. Had a career transition and tons of other stuff come up, plus not having a place to paint them is a major set back. Considering using a grow tent off amazon as a paint booth

For the cost comparison, the Class D wins out, and is usually higher power. I'm more a Crown fan than a Class D fan.
